    Thread Pitches/Bolt sizes

Is there a list of the various thread pitches and bolt sizes used on the GS1000? I was a member on this forum before and not sure where my username went or what I even used as a user name. I'm going on rebuild #4 on my inherited 78 GS1000 and am needing to replace some odds and ends bolts here and there. Specifically the main bolt for the fuel tank on the rear of the tank and the two side covers but I can't find any info on what sizes/pitches those bolts should be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most all of the bolts are available from Suzuki. Many of the fine thread bolts aren't available elsewhere, and the standard pitch ones have 13\15mm heads instead of 12\14mm ones. Try http://www.partzilla.com/parts/searc...00C/parts.html and http://www.partzilla.com/parts/searc...00C/parts.html to get you started

      In general m6 x1.0 .. m8x 1.25...m10x 1.5, occasionally you get fine m10 x 1.25, watch out for these , they often have a 14mm head size, as opposed to 17mm.

Most, but not all of the part numbers for bolts contain the thread diameter and bolt length.
01517-06258 for instance, denotes an M6 thread, 25mm length.

          This what I use,

Fuel tank shows item #15 is 01500-08307, so it an 8mm by 30mm long (strength is a type 7) but does not show the pitch, so either buy a thread gauge to measure the existing bolts or the info Hugo151 provided above is correct.

If you down load the manual you will see the information on pages 2-9 & 2-10 referring to bolts sizes and torque settings etc.

          Good Luck and welcome back.

... and you can download free thread gauges from here: https://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-i...n/Default.aspx

Their gauges are a lot more useful than you'd think! Also a decent place to purchase fasteners.
