    Rear rack fitment

Ad shows it came off of an 80 GS1000L. Im unfamiliar with all the year changes on this GS. Does anyone know if it would fit a 78? The one that came off of it looks similar but have been unable to find in the pile o parts.

    Thanks for any help,
    Josh

There is no 78 GS 1000L

They have different frames, so check pictures on Google

Looks like the rear mount is much higher on the L

The big thing that I look for is the rear mount that can curl under the tail fairing. It appears that rack might have that feature.

Not sure what the other 'legs' are, though.

The biggest difference in rack mounts is that a rack for an L does not have to reach under the edges of the tail fairing.

Otherwise, I think the mounts should be rather similar.

That ebay ad looked good until I noticed the $59.99 shipping.

All the racks I've seen on ebay are like that.

I have one of those, it is pretty much a universal rack and shouldn't be too hard to fit.
