82 750E - Air Assist Forks? How to adjust?
I never touched this but what's the procedure? I would like a stiffer ride so how much air pressure is appropriate?Tags: None

NONE would be perfect, but that requires new springs. HIGHLY recommended, as your current springs were not even adequate when they were new, and they have sagged over the last 35 years. Look up Sonic Springs. Less than $100 for the springs, add in a bit for oil. Might as well change the seals while you are in there. In fact, your lack of "stiffness" just might be a lack of fork oil because the seals have let it all out. When you are done, it will require NO additional air and you will have a nice. consistent ride.

If you choose to go air use a low volume pump. I used a regular bicycle pump from harbor freight.
worked out pretty cool because I didnt have one and its convenient for my bicycle and motorcycle tires instead of turning on my compressor.
Remove the cover caps on your fork and attach the pump. Here is where its a little hinky. You shouldn't put more than 7 lbs tops! It really is like pump and a half and done but it depends on your pump. To much and you can blow your seals.
I put in about 5-6 and it was actually awesome and worked quite well for the month I used it like that. Ultimately I did what steve suggested and went with new springs and oil which was indeed much nicer but in the short term the air did improve my ride quite a bit.

NEVER use air. It compresses the seals onto the tubes. Do it properally and fit new spring/oil and maybe spacers if required
