    Gear Box Speedo

Had my gear box speedo off and noticed a small bit of rubber falling out of it. It appears there was a rubber gasket in there of some sort that has disintegrated over the years. Is there a replacement part number for this? The fiche only shows the whole component, even though various parts of it are obviously servicable.

I give up. What and where is the "gear box speedo"?

This is as far as I could disassemble my 1150 unit. The rubber seal you speak of was long gone on mine.
I greased it and it seems ok so far.

Yours looks like mine. Looks like a shredded gasket underneath the prong ring.

I had my speedometer gear mechanism go out on me 90 miles out of Omaha. It just got tight then the tabs bent and that's all it took. Luckily I had a replacement waiting for me in Lincoln. It was no sweat to replace, I just sat back and watched. Thanks again my ol'buddy uncle Larr 👍

This GS1000 wire wheel I'm fitting bent the tab a little bit but I just straightened it out and it seems g2g. 50 miles and it still works. Going to repack it with grease and call it even.

I'm sure you could scare up a seal with a few measurements. It's likely pretty much the same across the GS universe.

Next time someone has a front wheel off, do some measuring and report back!
