Fork Tubes
The Ratzuki has a problem with blowing fork seals. Mike the mechanic sez the tubes are pitted and it will continue blowing seals until they are fixed. My question: can these tubes be repaired somehow, or are there replacement fork tubes in my future? If so what should I do about this? Can I put aftermarket tubes on, or should I try to stay with OEM?

Pitted forks should be hard chromed. Specialist job but I should imagine you can get it done in the US at least as easily as we can here. Costs about £150 the pair in the UK.
There are aftermarket legs out there and of decent quality but they ain't cheap (more than getting yours refurbished probably - it is here). Tomazelli (spelling might be a bit off) make good tubes.79 GS1000S

One option here is Frank’s Forks or Forks by Frank or something like that.
No idea on pricing, I just know they are available.

You might be able to find a good used set of forks cheaper than repairing them. I think there were quite a few 850's being parted out in the sales section. I know I have a couple, but I'd have to see what condition they are in.:cool:GSRick

I would second getting new ones from Forks by Frank. He did a fantastic job when I needed to fix my forks after wrecking the GS550T a couple of years agoCowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace
