    Throttle cable help, 79 GS1000

Hi everyone. First time poster. I'm from Halifax, Nova Scotia and own a 79 GS1000 which I have been restoring for a while now. I installed USD forks and a different handlebar and now my throttle cables are too short. Will the cables from a GS1000L fit the controls on my regular GS1000? I ordered cables off ebay and the ones I received have a larger thread where they fit the control..

I see Suzuki list two separate part numbers..

    GS1000L - 58300-49100
    GS1000S - 58300-45601

Does the GS1000L have the same controls as the regular GS1000? I see it has higher bars so I assume the cables are also longer..
Can anyone give me insight on this? Does anyone have dimensions for either of these cables?

    Thanks

I can't help you with lengths....but the end fittings will be the same. If you don't have local suzuki dealer to harrass, consider ordering one of these (58300 -49190) to give you a base to work from - you might get lucky. Note that he has a bunch in stock

      Thanks for the reply.

I was able to see on my cables that they are infact 45601.. if the ends are the same, then i feel safe ordering 49100 cables as they must be longer since the gs1000 L has higher bars.

Just for your information IIRC the stock E cables are about 4 1/2 inches longer than the S cables.

Sandy, thanks so much for that info. I did not realize the S was shorter then the E and N... From doing research, I see there are 3 different part #s.

On bikebandit, it actually states the length of the 45610 as (1084mm) which is very helpful. Unfortunately no length listed for the other 2 however I have 45601 cables so I figure that out myself.

          E, N: 58300-45610
          S: 58300-45601
          L: 58300-49100

The problem with ordering off eBay is that the seller rarely knows what the part actually fits
