Compression issue
Hi all again did a compression test and the results were shocking. 1#90psi 2#75psi 3#65psi 4#75psi on a dry test enigine cold wet test it was the same so could it be a shim job. So I moved some shims around so have clearance in the intake now but the exhaust clearance is shocking tight no clearance. so I have worse compression now. Would I be right if I got the correct shims for the exhaust it should be better oh the bike is a GS550 1979 and looks rough looking forward to your wise words many thanksTags: None

With mileage the valves recede into the head and the clearance goes away. Next the valves won't seat and they burn along with the seats. GS engines are tough but no guarantee that reshimming will fix up your bike. It's a good place to start though.Ed
