Help With 1977 GS750

Hey Guys, been away for a while and back to my GS. So Last week I started checking my GS750, it was asleep for close to 3 months. so I went ahead and changed the spark plugs, battery is in excellent condition, then checked the oil, I changed it not long ago. so The bike fired right up. it was good and strong as always. I let it warm up for a while, while I was checking everything. and then like 12 minutes later... the bike just shut off. so to me it seemed weird because it was not like it started to slow down and then shut, but the engine was running and then shut off. so I went ahead and started again ( Dyna ignition ) and by pressing the starter for no more than 2 seconds and it started making this sound that is not right. like a hight pitched sound,and then I shut the engine off. Also the kick starter got really stuck till the point that it is really hard to try to kick start. Started again recording a video to post here to see what your thoughts are. it lasts 17 seconds so you guys can help me, and again I just pressed the starter for 2 seconds.

That is about the length of time mine will run on full float bowls. I use a pingel instead of a vacuum petcock but I have more than once said "WTF" only to realize I hadnt turned the gas on. It will start and run and then die out leaving me confused.... of course ... until I turn the gas back on.

I can't tell from just hearing that, because I don't know what part of the engine the noise sounds the loudest. It may be an internal fastener that is backing out. Possibly one of the starter clutch screws that hold it to the flywheel. It may have backed out and is hitting the side of the engine case. The starter has a lot of torque and will still turn it over, but using the kick starter your feeling that resistance. It could also be the main bolt that keeps the flywheel on the crankshaft that has loosened and the flywheel has moved away, but is still engaging the starter gear. That's my guess without more info.

BTW. It may also have something to do with the cams as I have heard members talk about cam walking, though I have never encountered it yet and don't know what that may sound like, if it even makes a different sound.

Hi, the whining noise could be the starter clutch not releasing and spinning the starter motor up. Could whip out the starter, kick start the old girl and see if the noise has gone.

Thanks for the answer but as I said the kick starter is so stuck. it won't even move down when pressed.

When the engine starts, the starter sounds like it's not disengaging.
Side cover off and examine it closely.
Before you do that, make sure the starter button or solenoid isn't sticking in the on position. Might be as simple as that.

Hello. Not yet. I was away. I am checking right now but I am lost and I need help to be able to find what is going on.

One thing I was wondering, would that issue with the starter make the kick start stuck?
