    GS1100G brake pedal spring picture

Can someone take me a pic of how the 82 1100G spring fits please.

I’m obviously being dense as I don’t see how it fits (it’s different to the skunk) or maybe I’ve got the wrong spring on hand (possible as it might have come from another parts stash but I don’t think so...).

the picture in the manual is bad enough that I can’t see sh*t

    thanks!

I don't have a spring (or an 1100) handy for a picture, but I seem to remember that there is a hook on each end of the spring, which winds around the pivot shaft. The larger hook goes under the pedal to lift it up, the smaller hook goes over a pin on the frame that is just behind the pivot.

Yep, that's the same as my 1000 as pic below. On this one the larger hook seems to either be on the wrong side or the wrong way up depending on which way you orientate it...

On my KLR it goes on the bracket behind the frame tube but that doesn't look like it'll work either.

I just happened to ride my '83 850G to work today, and just happened to check this on lunch break, and they just happen to be the exact same part numbers, sooooo...

Apologies in advance for advanced filth. I'm a fixer and a rider, not a cleaner.

Looking up from underneath. The straight-ish bit goes over little peg on frame:

Looking down past actuator rod and light switch spring. Rectangular bit wraps around little sticky-uppy bit just below where the spring attaches.

The spring goes on the inside of the frame; it does not contact the brake lever, just the brake "axle" widget. The spring looks correct.

Aha! Thanks Brian. We share similar sentiments on riding vs cleaning! It's easier here though.. there's mostly only dust.

Our picture posts crossed in the wires...

I wish I'd asked that question before I slathered it all in Marine grease & connected it all up... Peg located now I hadn't done quite enough crawling underneath it, access is a bit tight currently!

That means I should have rear brake sometime later this week... finish the wiring and fit the carbs and pipe and she'll be ready to fire up!
