    mixing oil

i already read that you shouldn't mix different brands of oil, im not, its all 10w40, the difference is that one is castrol gtx and one is castrol go, the castrol go says "4T" on it and the other one doesn't.for now i will use just the gtx but i do have a quart of the other one and i dont have a receipt to return it, castrol says they dont recomend it but other brands say its fine so im just trying to get an opinion from someone on here maybe somebody has used the same oil. i heard rotella is the favorite on here

4T is more than likely four stroke. Guess what the 2T bottle is for
Best practice is to use the same oil for a sump fill.
If you run short on the road try get the closest to what's already in there.
Avoid oils with low friction or fuel economy on the label. You risk making the clutch slippy.
Rotella is one of those oils that has a good load bearing package absent in many modern car oils.
The link below is old but gives a good idea of what is happening.
If I had to I would top up 15/40 synthetic with 10/40 dino oil from a different brand. Then I might think about an earlier oil change.
Personally I would make a choice and put one or other in at oil change and keep the other for top ups or not.

The "Go" is motorcycle oil and the regular GTX is car oil. You can mix but of the two the Go is better because it's lower risk of causing clutch problems.

You could put it in a lawn mower maybe.

Just use it, it will be fine.
You won't have fancy unicorns paving your way with strewn flowers on your path, like you do with over-priced bike oil, but I can live with that.

no specific reason i just know that it also uses the oil and i didnt know if the wrong oil could affect it.
edit: not wrong, just not necessarily right

I've used Castrol "GTX" in all my bikes since the early "80"'s. I've never bought any kind of oil for, or called, motorcycle oil. Chain or shaft matters not. just run it.
