I will be adjusting my valve clearances on my GS1000E (1980 UK model) next week and also checking out the clutch and oil sump. I have purchased the rocker cover gasket, sump gasket and clutch gasket just wondering guys do you use additional sealant when fitting the new gaskets or just insert the gasket as is. Many thanks

If the surface is clean and smooth, there is no sealer necessary.

Let the sealer dry for a bit before installing the valve cover,

Yep, if you have any small damage on the surfaces a smear of the non hardening gasket goo will work... Grease for the valve cover is a good call. Put the grease engine side so the gasket comes off with the cover.1980 GS1000G - Sold
