Does your 1978 model have a headlight on/off switch now?

the switch unit on my bike has been cut and wired together and is not for my bike i only discovered this when removing the tank and installing new clutch cable and found where it was taped up so being curious i undid the tape and now need to find one that,s compatible.

The one i,m looking at is based in Canada and being in the UK if its not compatible will cost more to send it back than i paid for it.

afaik the one for your model should be aluminium,
this is the later model switch.
Does that match the rhs switch on your bike ?

Short answer: No. You'll need a switch for 77-79 GS750. That's what would be plug-n-play for your bike.

I may have to retract my earlier response due to the fact that you're in the UK with what I assume is a UK/European model - there's a difference. To the best of my understanding, the UK/Europe Suzukis never had a headlight on/off switch (the headlight was continuously on at the turn of the ignition key). The US/Canada models had headlight off/on switches until late '79 when the US required all motorcycle headlights to remain on at all times. That being said, I do not know if the connectors changed from the date of US/Canada design changes, so in that regard my first response my still hold true. I doubt they changed, but can't confirm that.

The safest bet would be for you to keep searching for a LH switch from the UK/Europe of the same vintage as your GS750DB. Selecting a switch from a different year, especially one from the US/Canada models, may end up being a costly dissapointment. Examine lots of seller's photos & see if they compare to what on line owner's/service manuals show for your bike. A stiff Google search should be able to pull up some correct P/Ns to help you select the correct one.

Hope this helps. Best of luck
