1979 gs750 seat and rims
I am bringing and old beat up GS750 called the "green goblin" back to life. Stock appearing. Right now it has a busted seat pan and a seat that has a hump or 'king and queen' where the back is higher than the front. I'd like to use a straight totally flat seat like on a 77. Will that fit on my 79? Or perhaps I could shave the foam on my current seat and cover with a 77 seat cover? Anyone ever do this Suggestions? Also I like the look of the spoked rims mine has them now but they are metallic green like the rest of this poor bike. I tried to strip the paint but they took a DA to them. They are ruined. What spoked rims can be used on this bike? Anyone out there building nice chrome spoke rims for the gs750..aftermarket Thanks fellas!Tags: None

if you have spoked wheels, you should have a standard GS750. Any seat from a "77" thru "79" GS750 standard or "E" model should work. The standard seats are totally flat & the "E" model seats have appx. 1/2" 3/4" step up to the rear passenger area, but no way near a King & Queen style. The GS750 "L" seat is totally different. Visit the Gallery, & punch "79" GS750, to see the differences. Not sure about aft. mkt wheels, I'd ask in the parts wanted section for some spoked wheels to fit a "79" GS750. Yea, what he said, without pictures we're not even sure you have a GS750. Pics now, then pics thru the progress. Congrats & good luck.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. They took a DA to the rims they are ruined. Maybe I could find the bare rims and buy some spokes and have them built.

Re-lacing wheels is not that hard. Do a search and you will find an excellent guide on how to do it. (I think it was Joe Nardy that posted it, maybe?) If I can do it anybody can!
And......if you want to invest the time, the spokes and nipples can be re-plated at home. (Ask me how I know!)Ron
When I die, just cremate me and put me in my GS tank. That way I can go through these carbs, one more time!https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/core/images/smilies/cool.png

I think I have decided to do just that. Do you have a supplier in mind where I could find spokes and rims? Thanks.
