    GS100OG seat lock disassembly

I am hoping to modify the seat catch on my 1980 GS1000G to suit the new ignition lock key

Does anyone know how you get the lock barrel out of the housing?

    Added lock picture below

    Thanks Nick

Inside the rear of the housing there should be a crimp holding a wafer in. That wafer when removed will allow the lock barrel to be removed. The wafer can be replaced and held in with some epoxy or chemical metal. I have re keyed a few gs1000 seat locks that way.

      Thanks for the reply

Is the crimp between the 2 mounting screw holes?

      Thanks Nick

Yes, at the base of the lock barrel. I think there is 2 crimps where the wafer is locked in.
        Look here.
