    yet another cam chain question

    Ok guys i need some help as usual.I need to replace the cam chain on my suzi(80 gs1000g) My question is , do any of you GS guru's know the pin size on the links(2mm, 3mm, 4 mm)?I see the tool to break & rivit the chain but theres different sizes :? I really dont wanna split the cases

    Not sure of the pin diameter, but lifting off the cam cover is all that's required for a quick peek. I'd imagine it's only 2 or 2.5 mm but someone here on the forum might know for sure.

      I'll check on my 81 1100E right now. Maybe it's the same.

        It looks like a 3mm, but it isn't easy to measure while on the bike. Could have been 2.5...

          I can check later tonight on my 821100e. I can measure them with my calipers.

            Thanks evryone. You guys are the BEST! The only pin sizes they show(dennis kirk ) are 2, 3, & 4 mm. didnt see any half sizes . Looks like a pretty cool tool though for breaking & riviting back together.Gotta love cool tools 8)

              Sorry for the delay,

              Loooks like the pin is 0.119 inch or 3 mm.

              The od of the part the pin slides thru is 0.18 or about 4.57 mm
