    Oil Lines

I've had a "SEEP" with my 2 oil lines for a while now. I've been trying to find Crush Washers, but haven't succeeded yet.
Well, my SEEP turned into a larg puddle on the top of my engine case (under the carbs) and starting to run down the side of my engine. I thought I'd used a lot of oil last Sunday on my ride?
When I got to work I looked around and difinately see a drop of oil on the bottom of each hose. However, the connections on the head are dry. It looks as if maybe where the rubber is crimped into the Banjo connector is where it is leaking.

    Anyone else have this happen?
Could the oil be coming from somewhere else? Doesn't look like it though. The Cam chain tensior looks dry. The side of the head is dry too.

    Thanks.

    $51.75 each? 8O 8O

    A week delivery? 8O :?

Just wondering. We have a Salvage yard here. I just called and she' going to check.

Wouldn't the oil lines from different years or models fit also?

    Thanks for any help here.

Would it be wise to maybe Duck Tape them to get me home? It was leaking pretty bad. I'd say around 1/16th of a qt. maybe. I'd hate for it to totally blow half way to home. 8O

You have rubber washers under the banjo connectors? I have an aluminum crush washer on mine. I picked then up from the Suzuki dealer. I can't remember the price, but I do remember that it was more that it should have been. Bikebanit is always cheaper than the dealer, but I was there.

Duct tape won't seal the leak.

If it blows open, you'll know it. Hit the kill switch.

No, sorry if I confused ya. It looks like it's leaking where the Rubber hose gets crimped into the Banjo connector.
What I had thought when it was just seeping, was that I needed new Crush Washers - yet I couldn't find them. Now I'm fairly sure it's the oil hose itself.

        Thanks.

          Ouch. I don't think that's repairable.

Yeah, It's never good to look down at a traffic light and see Oil puddling on top of the engine. Then running down the left side. 8O
Especially on your way to work and too far to turn around. :?

My wife just called and I've got to go get my son from school (sick) so I've no choice but to try to get home with it.

            Later.

Get a tube of some RTV sealant and goop it all over the banjo/rubber junction. If it were me, I'd just ride it and keep an eye on it. If it hasn't totally failed yet, I assume it will make it another few miles.

Well I cleaned everything up and had to get home to get the sick son. When I got home, there's another puddle of oil. Frustrating as I can't see it dripping, but the oil lines are wet. I looked everywhere else and nothing else is wet with oil. Just the oil lines and the engine right underneath them. I wondered if it was the banjo connection on the crank case itself, but I don't see how oil could travel up?
Could it be spraying a bit when running in the higher RPM range? Is that possible? I've NO idea how much oil pressure these things have.

                Grrrrrrrrr..........

Dave, usually with any leak, if you trace it to the highest point that is wet, there is where the troubled area will usually be. Even if it doesn't look likely, it could be a cracked line or something. Or like you said, coming out right at the crimp. Don't play around moving it until you are home and don't need it. If it is on it's way out you could just finish the job by pulling and pushing on it.

                      Thanks guys.

Lynn, I was wondering the same thing. May be worth checking out.

In the meantime, my local bike shop had the Crush washers. Not bad, only $7.00 for 7 washers.

Anyway, I'm going to replace all the washers, then put hose clamps where the double layered hose comes out of the crimped area. I read on here several times - start with the simple stuff first. Words of Wisdom.

If that doesn't work, I may try the hose repair - or just order them from Bike Bandit. I called the local salvage, but the never got back with me. I may check again.

Thanks for all the help. Some good ideas, as usual.

                      Later.

I wonder if this is a Jinx from my posts in the "Oil" thread. LOL. The GS GOD's didn't find the humor. :?
