Hey, here's another one, currently at $9.95:
These Honda regulator/rectifiers are pretty easy to find cheap if you search for a specific model bike. I just happened to be nosing around eBay one day looking for stuff for my wife's CM400 and snagged one for $3.99. There are two just today, and I've seen several others.
That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy -- if these parts were at all unreliable, bidding wars would erupt among desperate Honda owners, much as they do when rare functioning Suzuki electrics go on the block. But Hondas seem to go to their graves with good electrics.
Being something of a GS850G specialist, I'm not sure what other models of Hondas would also be good prospects. I'm sure someone here could offer a bit of enlightenment.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
2005 KLR685, Aztec Pink - Turd II.3, the ReReReTurdening
2015 Yamaha FJ-09, Magma Red Power Corrupts...

focus frenzy
not all hondas have gone to the grave with good electrics, there are several models that have atleast as bad a reputation for cooking their stators, and I know of a few CM 400/450's that have had charge coil failures (CDI)

Another possiblility is to replace the bad zener diode. That is the diode that is going bad, not one of the bridge diodes.

The R/R is solid cast epoxy filled. I dont know how I would get down to the zener diode without destroying everything. I would fix it If anyone can tell me how to get to it.

I would be my luck to spend 100 hours picking epoxy with a straight pin, get the offending diode replaced, repour the epoxy and 30 minutes later have another of the old diodes take a dump. LOL
