    guage conversion

    I'm changing the dash/guages on a 1982 GS1100E.
Basically it's the whole dash from an 1983 GS1100.
    This has the 140mph speedo.

Should it just be a simple add on?
No gearing changes for the speedo?

Speedometer gear part numbers are the same for 82 & 83. Should be ok.

Yup, I can tell you that from experience. I recently bought a gauge cluster from an 82. Almost kept the 85 speedo, because it's fun to watch it bury in 2nd gear! But you have to have the ohh and ahh factor with the 140 clock.

You could just swap the speedo and not even remove the console from the bike.
