Carb synching question, again....

I put longer hoses with twice the inside diameter on my vacune guages and thats probably why i can get a smooth reading

i used the mercury sticks tonight and it worked out very well, but i just wanted to make sure that, the outer 2 sticks need to be a little higher then the inner 2 sticks, am i right? its also very useful to install the brass extention with the engine cold and then pinch the hoses until your bike is warm that way you can hit the gas and not worry about suckin mercury.
