GS1100 Idle Question
My question is concerning a 1982 GS1100G. While at idle I can pull off the #2 plug wire and it makes no difference in the idle. The bike idles at 1050-1100 it sounds like it has a slight miss also. But when I attach aplug to the suspect wire it has good spark. The pipe is hot to touch as well. When running it apperars to have no problems. The problem appears at idle. Any suggestions would be great. The bike has 26,000 miles no mods and just completed a complete carb rebuild and cleaning.Tags: None

Did the problem just show up after the cleaning/rebuild?
If the spark is good and it only happens at idle, then it's either a pilot circuit problem or a poor carb synch.
I would first be sure the mixture screw is adjusted correctly to that carb. If it is, I would synch the carbs with a vacuum tool if you haven't already. A carb synch should be done anyway. If the vacuum is too high (compared to the others) you can temporarily foul the plug from a rich mixture while on the pilot circuit, but still run OK at other throttle positions/rpm's.
If you still have the problem, then you need to re-inspect the pilot circuit passages/jets in that carb. And on the seventh day, after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!

Thanks Keith, I pulled the carbs back off and found a restriction in the pilot circut. I recleaned and balanced, no more problem. And BTW nice restore.
