Plugs, oil and oil filter, and valve adjustment should all be good (< 1000 miles). I need to look at cleaning and oiling the air filters though.

My 81 GS650G gets 45-48MPG at 75MPH on the highway. Usually a strong headwind on the way home, so it is like I'm doing more like 95+.... so strong on Saturday that my bike would not go over 75!
Just crusing at 55-65MPH and I get over 50MPG.

Do all of you run premium (92 or 93 octane) gas? I run premium on a 100% stock 450 and get 45-50 in town and 58-61 with all highway miles.
Perhaps having half the carbs isnt so bad?

37 mpg with my 850 on the last tank. Pretty consistent 34-39. I think your riding style has a great deal to do with it. I am going to try taking it real easy and do a lot of short shifting for the tank I have now to see if I can get anywhere close to those fabulous numbers others report.Believe in truth. To abandon fact is to abandon freedom.

i always put the best i can get in all of my bikes, /shrug probally a waste of money, but they just seem to run cleaner and smoother with higher octane gas

Actually - I'm running 87 octane. I hadn't found any recommendation for a higher grade and I hadn't noticed any knock. What do the rest of you guys run?Currently bikeless

I run 89 octane in the 1150. Its what Suzuki recommends. 87 in the 1100.

45 mpg on 87 octane doing around town driving and not whipping it. Makes me happy....this summer is going to be a mad max movie with the barbarians circling a barbed-wired fuel depot

34-40 mpg on my 1979 GS850. However, I am not know to take off slow from lights, go the speed limit, or shift before hitting 7k RPMs!
