    tire question

well it`s time for new tires for the `79 GS 1000E. I am looking at the avon road runner tires. Are these good? Has anyone had any experience with these tires? I am also looking at the dunlop 491 elite II also. I have a set of Cheng
Shen Marquis on her now. Will I notice a difference when going from the cheng shen tires to the Avons?

I'd go with the Dunlops, but I am seriously jaded about tires. I'll never buy anything that isn't Dunlop for the bike.

I ride, therefore I am.... constantly buying new tires.

Depending on the Avon tire, it won't last long. The back on my 750 lasted only one season, about 3000KM.

The Cheng Shin HiMax tires are pretty good. The Marquis and Barracuda CS tires are awful.

Avon is very well regarded by the European crowd. If anyone would know about wet traction, it would be the Brits.

If your fitment is available you should seriously consider Bridgestones and Metzellers tires.

I have to second that. Great traction in all types of weather (never tried snow or ice though ) and long wearing makes for a good deal.
