    help!can`t get my gs 400e to idle

    I have a 83 gs400e and it won`t idle properly
    i can fire it up and runs as long as i have it revving above 3000 rpms
    below that it just dies
    did a carb clean and has a new battery
    boots look all fine on the carb
    is there anything else i can try?

    do you have a jetkit in the carbs? and also what kind of airbox "Stock" or "pods", exaust? stock?

      Sounds like your idle circuits are not fully cleared. If you have not fully soaked any grundge out of these small passages, and blasted them clear with either carb cleaner in a can, or compressed air, you will need to complete that task. You will also need to be sure that carbs are balanced, as if they are out of sync, idling will be a problem.

        It should run fine if the airbox is intact, the carb boots are good, and everything is assembled properly. The only other thing I can think of is that an empty gas tank causes the same symptoms. :P I had an '82 400E and it idled very well after cleaning the carbs. Even with leaky boot o-rings and a destroyed open exhaust it ran well.

          I agree I would recheck idle and pilot circuts, and mixture settings.
