    Kickstand Question

I got a kickstannd for my bike, then ordered and received the bolt and nut from bike bandit. Now I can't figure out where the spring is connected. Does anyone have a graphic or can describe how it is attached? Thanks!

i think one end of the spring goes right around the bolt. Then the other end is hooked over the little hook located half way down the kickstand. it usually goes on easier if the kickstand is up. i used a brake spring tool to do mine.

I see...around the bolt...I was looking for an attach point like the center stand has. I'll try the bolt. Thanks Scotty! Hopefully I won't wind up down the driveway, Wrench!

mine has a stud on the back side of the side stand mount that the spring attaches to.

i will go out and look now--

Sorry--no bolt. There is a stud on mine facing outward just a short distance from the bolt. The whole thing is easly seen if it is there.

Well, it seems that the bolt will only go in from under the bike toward the outside. The problem here is that there isn't enough room to get it in that way unless I take the exhaust off on that side! I am terrified that something will break on this old exhaust system if I try to take it off. I think I saw the stud for the spring while I was trying to get the bolt in...thanks for that info! Sure would be nice to park the bike without needing to put it on the center stand, though. Am I being too paranoid about the exhaust?

Wel again, it seems that i was mistaken about the bolt. Maybe the stud is broken off and thats why there is no kickstand now. If you get desperate some of us can take photos of our setups for you. My bike is a gs 1100ed so the stand may be much diferent from your bike???

Well, I took the left exhaust off today and found the spring stud. I put the stand on and attched the spring. However, when I put the exhaust back on, the stand was interfering with the exhaust and the stand would not come up all the way. I guess now I know why there was no sidestand on the bike when I bought it. I took the stand back off and put the exhaust back on.
