    Brake upgrade single disc to dual

    I have an 82 GS1100g front wheel with dual discs, can I put it on an 82 GS750T and replace the single front disc. Or do I need to replace the entire front end??

    you'd have to have mounting holes for the calipers on both of the outer fork tubes, so at the very least you'd need new outer tubes along with your wheel, along with the caliper, plus lines to go out to both. even with that I'm not sure if the tolerence between the single disc forks is wide enough to support a dual disc wheel, which I'm guessing is a little wider. If it is, you'd need new triples and forks.

      Will the whole front end off the 1100g fit the 750?? That might be the easiest way to accomplish the up grade
      I'll have to do some measuring tommorow.
      I just thought of this upgrade a bit ago, I have the 1100G sitting there full of parts and a GS750T begging for an upgrade. I'm thinking of upgrading brakes, suspension, and putting a full fairing, and hard bags on it. Making it into a full out touring bike.

        I don't have any experience with either of those bikes, however if the length of the fork, the diameter of the tube and the distance between the two forks are the same as the 750, it should slide into the triples. if that doesn't work, you could try bolting on the triples from the 1100 so that you'll know the front end'll fit. the only dimention that can vary is the length of the fork, it'll change the ride height, but if it's too short you'll start scraping, and if it's too long, you won't be able to reach the ground.

        there are some people on this site that'll be able to answer your question without you having to go out and measure and experiement for a few hours, but they haven't piped up, and in my experience, it's more fun to find out for yourself it works 8) it's how I learned how to take a front end of a bike apart, I just went out there and started yanking stuff off, systematically of course.           Forgot to answer you're question of ease.

          the easiest thing to do would be to loosen the three bolts on each side holding the forks in, slide them out, and slide the 1100 forks in, tighten the bolts back up, and you're done. However that's only if the dimensions are the same, as I said in my previous post. I hope all this helps!
