Assuming this is the same tank as on european gsx750esd, which I am 99% sure of, it is 19.5 litres of which 4.0 litres is reserve.

Yep, Sten has got it....for the US folks those capacities translate to 5.2 gallons including the reserve.....the reserve alone is 1.1 gal. So that translates to 4.1 gallons of fuel before you have to hit reserve.

5.2 gallons is for the 750 models- the 700's have a different tank. 1983 GS750E/ES lists 5.2 incl 1.1 reserve. Ride On, Ed
1983 GS750ED

I want my money back on my manual then.....the thing says that the tank should hold 5.2 gal.....Oh-well, that page might be better used as toilet paper anyway.

I have a GS700ES and hit reserve after only about 80-90 miles, then can squeeze 2.8 gallons into it if on the centerstand. Reserve seems to be right on the fuel gauge at the beginning of the red area. Seems like I should be getting more than 30 mpg. I noticed a few people replacing their petcock valve. Mine doesn't leak to the outside, but could this be causing problems? Checked the air filter, it looks clean. Don't think the carbs have been re-jetted. Runs great, so I can't complain too much.

I guess I learned something. Maybe the earlier 750's do have bigger tanks. I've never had to put my 83 750ES in reserve, but I've ridden over 170 miles on a tank. (I imagine it was really close to reserve at that point though)
