can anyone tell me how much fuel capacity my tank holds and how much before it hits reserve? I havn't found anything on it yet.

Assuming this is the same tank as on european gsx750esd, which I am 99% sure of, it is 19.5 litres of which 4.0 litres is reserve.

Yep, Sten has got it....for the US folks those capacities translate to 5.2 gallons including the reserve.....the reserve alone is 1.1 gal. So that translates to 4.1 gallons of fuel before you have to hit reserve.

Nowhere near 5.2 gal. total. With my tank dry I'd be lucky to get a little over 4 in it.

I got out my photo copy of an owners manual for the 700E/S.

4.6 gallons including reserve 3.8 gallons on the california model.

          reserve 4.2 qt

Yeah I think the 5.2 spec is for the 1150 of the same year.

5.2 gallons is for the 750 models- the 700's have a different tank. 1983 GS750E/ES lists 5.2 incl 1.1 reserve. Ride On, Ed

I want my money back on my manual then.....the thing says that the tank should hold 5.2 gal.....Oh-well, that page might be better used as toilet paper anyway.

Something you'll want to remember with the GS700 manual, it's actually an 83 GS750 manual with the 700 addendum in the back. If you got your specs in that addendum I'm surprised it was wrong, but if you got them from the front, that's why.

I have a GS700ES and hit reserve after only about 80-90 miles, then can squeeze 2.8 gallons into it if on the centerstand. Reserve seems to be right on the fuel gauge at the beginning of the red area. Seems like I should be getting more than 30 mpg. I noticed a few people replacing their petcock valve. Mine doesn't leak to the outside, but could this be causing problems? Checked the air filter, it looks clean. Don't think the carbs have been re-jetted. Runs great, so I can't complain too much.

I get close to 50mpg on a good trip, I don't hit reserve untill after 125 miles or more.

I guess I learned something. Maybe the earlier 750's do have bigger tanks. I've never had to put my 83 750ES in reserve, but I've ridden over 170 miles on a tank. (I imagine it was really close to reserve at that point though)
