Where to buy fuel mixture screw?

Even heeding the warnings of many in here, somehow the tip of one of my fuel mixture screws on the bottom of my carbs broke off. None of the parts fisches I have looked at even mention this screw. It is the last thing I need to get my bike running. Any ideas? Or if anyone has an extra, can I buy one from you? I want to get one ASAP.

I had that problem with my Intruder. I couldn't get a screw, so I made one. If you can't get it, let me know and you can mail it to me and I'll make you a new one. Just so you know, I'm a master machinist with 30 years in the trade. The only charge will be for shipping. Probably about $1.

Michael, thanks for the heads up but I once again came up with nothing. No diagrams I have looked at even shoe the existence of this screw.

Weazzor, that sounds like a possibility. I think I will wait and see if anyone else has an extra from a set of parts carbs or something first. I am just trying to get her back on the road asap... thank you very much for the offer, if nothing pans out I may have to take you up on it.

I have spares and 1 you can have, Where do I send it? Mine is from a 550 though, Hopefully it will fit the same.

That's not a pilot jet #41 on the blow apart of the VM29 series carb? Says it costs $5.95 according to the site. Just go to the chart and match the part to the broken piece. There are pictures of each component in the description.

You are right, that is a pilot jet. I am not looking for a pilot JET. I am looking for a pilot idle mixture adjustment screw. It is not the same thing. I replaced the pilot jets in all 4 carbs with ones suggested by Vance and Hines and they looked like this:



If you can find the mixture adjustment screw anywhere, please let me know. I have looked on every exploded diagram I can find. I have found a place that will sell me a carb kit containing the screw, but they are in Canada and I'm trying to find a quicker way to handle this.

Well it looks like arveejay is helping me out and even going to the trouble to send it overnight for me. A huge THANKS to him!

Oh, and today I confirmed my nightmare that the rest of the screw was stuck in the passage. This explains why when fired up for the first time, it yellowed the heck out of the left most pipe on my new V&H system :-(. But anyway, I was actually able to get the tip out without causing any damage. The tip was sticking out into the mouth of the carb, and I was able to put the tip of a screwdriver on it and tap the screwdriver with a hammer. This tapped it down and out of the carb mouth, and then a tap of the carbs on the garage floor and it fell out. SO RELIEVED!!

It's possible that arveejay's screw may not fit, as I am awaiting a reply from him on the size. If anyone has an extra that would fit my '79 GS750 carbs, please let me know. I am desperate to get this thing on the road!

Guess I should have posted - I found a kit (made by Keyster) on ebay that had the screw in it. If anyone is looking for the same thing let me know and I can show you who is selling the kits. I think it was $14 for the kit.
