    GS850 Front Wheel Assembly

I will try to explain this as best I can so you can picture it.
I need some help with the installation of the front wheel on my 82 GS850GLZ. I am restoring my bike and took the wheel off to remove and service the forks. It had been a while since I was able to replace the front wheel and have a question on the assembly of the spacers. This is the Z model and there is no axel holder on the right side, the bolt goes right thru the fork, there is a vertical bolt in the front of the fork at the bottom. My question is does the right fork spacer go in from the inside facing out or outside facing in? My guess is inside facing out but I need to be sure. Also there is no spacer on the left side is there? I have seen 2 different part configurations and in one they show a spacer before the speedometer drive unit and none in the other.
Here is how I have it assembled.....
I have the bolt with the washer going thru the left fork into the speedometer gear box, going thru the wheel assmebly out the right side of the wheel into a large spacer with the large end facing the wheel, the spacer going into the fork from the inside going out, then the washer, nut and cotter pin.
The parts book also shows the last spacer going in from the outside of the right fork and one going in from the inside on the left side. I cannot remember if I had 2 spacers or only 1 since it had been a little while since I was able to get back to it and I want to be sure I am not missing a spacer or have it installed wrong.
Does the last spacer go into the fork from the inside or from the outside?
Does the left fork get a spacer? This would have to go in from the inside because the hole diameter on the outside is only large enough for the bolt, I forgot to look at the inside of the fork to see if a spacer went in. Thank you all

the spacer should go with the wide end facing the inside . or looking like this

    FROM FRONT VIEW:

    =| <----spacer

IF you put it on the other way, you'll notice, as when you try and turn the front wheel when its off the ground, itll be grinding against the metal on the brake calipers.

Bike bandit diagram had shown it like it was supposed to go the other way, but when I did that It wasnt right.

    I've got an 1980 GS850L

Bike Bandit and Twowheelcorp both show the same fiche diagram. That is where I got the wrong information and my CLYMER Suzuki manual shows it that way also and it shows a spacer on the inside of the left fork. Are you aware of any spacer in the left fork?
Thanks for the reply, normally I try to take notes or even pictures with my digital for future reference but this one slipped my mind when I took it apart.
      Thank you Bill

Man, I went nuts with this one myself last year! Kept looking at that damned fiche from bike bandit & trying to figure out why in the hell my rotor was rubbing on the caliper! Poot is correct of course.
I just went out to the garage to make sure--NO spacer in the left fork!

          Thank You

I was going to put the calipers on and noticed the bracket was hitting the disc and that is when I stopped and decided I better investigate that I didn't do something wrong. It is amazing how quickly you forget something came apart expecially when pieces fly all over when you remove something. I took apart the left hand switch directional /high beam switch and springs went everywhere, Luckly I figured that out on my own as a blow up of the inside of that switch is not available.
Sites like these are also great, people you don't know willing to offer knowledge. It is greatly appreciated giving me some of yours.
          Thank You for checking..

Well I hate to admit it, but this old fart but a few miles on before he figured out something wuz wrong! Fortunately, it didn't hurt anything (the rotor is much harder than the aluminium caliper).
