    Fork Brace installation instructions

I have recently purchased a fork brace on ebay for my 81 GS1100EX. It might be a Telefix. The seller was not sure and I can't find any markings stating what is. Physically the brace has two independent fork clamping brackets which are bolted together in the center. It looks sort of like this when not bolted together, ()---- ___(). Has anyone ever installed this type of brace. If so can you please help me with the installation instructions? Thanks, it will be much appreciated.

    Fork Brace

The fork brace that I have installed on my bike has 5 pieces. Two each that clamp on the fork tube housing, held on by 2 screws each, that go where the fork boot is currently. And a flat rectangular piece that bolts in-between these fork tube brackets, held on by 4 screws. The key to this intallation is to install all the parts loosely at first then tighten the brackets that go around the fork tube housing first and the bracket that ties the two forks together last. Check the forks for any signs of binding and if the forks hang up in anyway, loosen the screws and start over.

      Hi

My Telefix looks just like that..

On my Telefix you put the dust covers on the top of brace...

On my GS1000GLX I had a little wobble from 130-KM hour before..
With the brace I got no wobble at 170 KM hour, have not tried any faster.

        Information appreciated :P

Thanks for your responses. From what you are telling me Einar I think that I can confirm that I have a Telefix fork brace. It likely was designed for the 81 GS11 because it just seems to fit really well and the dust caps slip right over the part of the fork brace clamped around the fork tube. Mario you and Einar have different braces but you are giving me very similar installation procedures. I should attach the brace loosely at first. Carefully tighten the allen head bolts, seating the fork tube clamps first then the connecting crossmember bar(s) last. I am assuming that the front of the bike should be off the ground. Can anyone else help with the tork specs on the allen head bolts and anything else that would be of help?
