One more option - from memory, the clutch switch is supposed to be identical to the brake switch (seems reasonable that it would be). As a temporary measure, you could wire the clutch switch closed and pirate the components for the brake light switch.

I could...but then the bike DEFINITELY wouldn't pass inspection...

Nah, it's the stupid brake light switch.
Frickin maryland state inspection.
Maybe this shop is just giving me the run around and making it hard for me. Does anyone know if brakelight flashing is necessary for the stupid inspection to be passed?

I don't know of any state inspection that does not check the brake light.

I agree w/fastpakr-take the part from the clutch switch & use it on the brake,then unplug wires from clutch(mine are in headlight shell-80-850).Now bike will start w/o pulling in clutch.Hope this helps.

Wait, that won't work because the bums were looking for the clutch lockout device the last time I took it in.
I'll try it since they already passed that part of the inspection though hehe...Thanks!!! I didn't know there was a little "Part 21" inside that part of the bike!!!

Seriously dood, instead of butchering or modifying your bike and removing features there is no need to remove simply take 10 minutes and just make the little piece and be done with it.

WEll, the *@%^$*@%^$*@%^$*@%^$ poor weather in Maryland is (ONCE FRICKIN AGAIN) delaying my ability to repair the switch.

And due to my wife, fabrication of the piece was out of the question last night. Why does it seem that the only place I get anything bloody done is at work 40 miles from home!?!

Just wait until you have KIDS! You think the wife wants attention... 8O Then there is the bills that the kids generate. There is no stopping it now. I look back to when I was single and I wonder what I did with all the spare time. I used to wash my bike EVERY saturday morning and go for a ride, just for the he!! of it... Now I'm lucky if I can find time to change oil in my vehicles just to keep them running right... Wash my bike, what's that?

Ok, seriously, Detman, I just found I had to get super organized and schedule things and think about where to find the time I needed. It's not always easy (never?!), but you will get better at the juggling act. Try sending your wife to the movies with her friends, or on a night out or similar. I get more done when my wife goes out for the night, even though I have to do the houshold stuff and get kids in bed myself than when we are working together. Man, there is nothing like a few hours of peace and quiet in the garage to make you feel right again...

Yes, I'm scared of having a kid after experiencing what life is like with an adult around me 24-7.

Eventually I know it will come to pass as the wife is eager to start a family.
