Best place to get a replcement clutch????

Through your helpful answers know I need new clutch (slipping). What do I need? I think just plates right?? Where is the best place or places to get this stuff??? I know bike bandit but they seem a bit pricey.

    I need this info too...

I'm thinking about going with some JCWhitney plates if I can find the ones that fit my bike.

You should take out the clutch plates and measure the thickness with a venier caliper. Compare with the manual as to where the tolerance should be. Also check the tolerance of the pressure plate springs. Last time I replaced my clutch I got new friction plates and springs, Those are usually the parts that wear. The steel plates should be fine, but check them anyway.

I had good luck at my local shop. They got me Parts America plates and springs, I don't remember the cost, but it was better than Bike Bandit, that's for sure. Maybe $90 for all 9 plates and the springs? Can't remember.

I ride, therefore I am.... constantly buying new tires.

I got mine herehttps://www.partsnmore.com/cat_index...ategory=engine , they sell the plates for $4. each, and a set of springs for $16. Do yourself a favor and get new bolts as well while you are in there. The bolts have a tendency to stretch and can break when you try to torque them down again. Don't ask me how I know this OK?

Hmmm...I didn't see the bolts for sale on that site.
I'll get the specs for my bolts and get some grade 8 replacements from True-Value Hardware store or Lowes.

          Thanks!!
That link is gonna save me 40 dollars on my clutch plates!!

Thanks for the partsnmore site that will save me huge, they are half the price of bike bandit. I was also thinking that it is probably just friction plates, it is a ligitamate 16000 miles on the bike so I was having a hard time thinking the metal plates are worn down tooo much.

I bought my clutch parts from Cycle-Re-Cycle Part II, and they have been awesome, both on price and especially service and knowledge! They're in Indianapolis.
