Only way to replace the cam chain is to split the cases and remove the crank. I am doing the same thing on my 45,000 mile GS750E. I would not use any cam chain that is split and uses a master link.

If you go as far as pulling the crank, you might as well do a bottom end rebuild also. The good news is that as long as cam chains last you should only have to do it once. Good Luck, Ed.

The easiest way IS to replace the cam chain with a soft link, I have used them 3 times, as long as you get the soft on the chain properly it's as good as a endless chain.
If you don't get the soft link on properly, may as well look for a new engine as it will destroy most of everything thats moving!
So, if you go ahead and get a soft link chain, make sure you put the soft link on properly.
If you go the other route and get an endless one, spend a few days taking the engine out and striping it all down.

Just remember easiest is not always best. Ask any reputable cycle engine shop (Falicon, APE, V+H ect.) and they will all say the same thing- stay away from master link cam chains. It is too bad Suzuki did not engineer these motors-like modern engines- with the cam chain on the end of the crank. They are pretty damn good but not perfect. Good Luck, Ed.
