Gears not indicating

so my 1st and 3rd gears arn't indicating on the dash.

My bike is an 86 GS750ES

Any ideas? I just took it out for its spring thaw got her ready, and this still hasn't gone away by its self... like it has before.

Sounds like gear indicating switch maybe bad.

Where would I find this switch and is it possible its just dirty and needs and good cleaning?

On mine it turned out to be the LED unit itself. On my 1100e, the selector switch, located alongside the chain sprocket, acts as a ground for the four or five wires coming from the LED. I was able to locate the fault by opening up the wiring harness connector for this circuit and ground-testing each of the pins.
