I am on a seat search for my 1978 GS750. I am finding seats that are on other simalar bikes. Right now there is a GS850/1000 seat for sale.

Might I ask why you just dont get you seat recovered. If your trying to change the seat configuration go to a car upholstery shop and see if they can build one to your specs. Should only cost about $100 bucks. Just a thought. -

For the GS 750E models, 1977-1979, the seats are all the same including latch and hinge locations. For 1980 until 1982 on 750 E models, the seat looks the same, but whereas the 77-79 model was side hinged and side latched, the 80-82 models were front hinged and rear latched. I have a 79 and 81 750E and the seats look the same, but are not interchangable. I have no idea if 850 or 1000 seats will fit.

The simple reason that I dont reapolster is, that the foam underneath is crap. I need a new entire seat. I have foam piece that is designed for what I want but it is not mounted to the pan not covered. So logically I am waiting to see if there is a seat out there on ebay for me. But hey, thanks for asking.
