    Marvel Mystery Oil/Lucas oil additives???

I had some friends (different) recommend using these two products in the bike. Did my searches (as usual on the sight) see that the lucas is a no no, but saw good things about the MMO. Question is how much is safe to add to a tank of gas? I know there will be instructions but sometimes (most times) you guys have a little more insight.

OK, don't put anything in the crankcase but oil. Ever. I know you can read otherwise, but don't do it!

I've been experiencing some rough running on the 550 so I tried a couple of tankfuls of gas with MMO, because I had some. Sure smells good. Sure miss the old metal can with its secret messages. Said the secret chant. Tapped my forehead with my MMO cult membership card and ....didn't do anything. Use plus or minus the recommended amounts on the back of the bottle. Think I could find an old can on e-bay?

Works good as a non spray penetrating oil and cable lube, but Techron from Chevron (get it at Wally-Woild) is a proven carb/injector cleaner.

MMO actually was, according to an article I read, developed by GM's Buick division as a lube for the Marvel carbs the cars were equipped with in the 20s. Now this was an on-line article so YMMV.

The formula has changed over and over, over the years. But the peppermint fragrance remains the same!

MMO is currently marketed by the Turtle Wax people. And they ain't telling no more than they have to about what's in it!

Thanks Jim. I will also look into techron as it is truly my carbs I want ot keep perfect. Paid to have them completly rebuilt and they are like new, want 'em to stay that way for as long as possible.

An excellent oil addative is Transmission oil in the tank (the red stuff) This will help a lot in freeing off stuck/gummed rings and make the engine run smoother, DONT PUT ANYTHING IN CRANCASE!

Other than oil, the only thing I ever put in the crankcase is a little Sea Foam.

Was not ever planning on adding anything to the crankcase; however, just hoping for a little extra lubrication at the valves and pistons.

Is the Lucas bad stuff to put in your gas?

I love the smell of MM Oil, to me it smells like birch beer. I still have a metal can, the cylindrical one. I saw that one coming down, there was no way I was throwing out my last metal can! I look at it this way, I just buy 'refills' now. The Techron stuff is expensive but it works, and it works under severe conditions. If you have a lot of buildup in a car it's worth it.

MMO is ultra high detergent thin oil. Probable something like auto trans oil.
You really dont want to put that stuff in anything. Use it for losening bolts or to give a little extra life to the frozen bushings on an electric motor. Keep it away from any auto or bike that you love.
