    Clutch Replacement

The clutch on my 83 GS650L has been slippling badly so I just bought new Suzuki fiber plates, new springs and a new clutch cover gasket. The dealer suggested not to replace the metal plates and they don't wear as bad as the fiber plates

Any hints or suggestions before I tackle this job? I have the Haynes manual for reference.

The job should be easy and rewarding. Do not overtorque the basket fasteners!

I would replace the 5 clutch bolts they stretch over time

        Larry,

I found this article to be of great help when I replaced my first clutch last year. It's very step by step and may give you a few extra pointers compared to the Haynes manual.

The metal plates only need to be replaced if they are warped or below tolerance.

        Good luck-
