It's tough when there are not real sources for parts in your area. I bought a parts bike just to build inventory of spare items. It has come in handy on a few occations. Yoiu might consider finding a spare Hanger Queen if you son't have any Bike Boneyrds around.

Eeeyup.. it would be nice to find a parts Bike. I watch the paper every day, and I've heard stories of a Bike boneyard down south of here, but can't find a name. The other, north of here, had nothing in the line of GS1100s. The only other thing it really needs is new rear shocks. Originals are discontinued and new "jobber" shocks are expensive. 8O

I'm still pleased though, once this is fixed, I'll give it the major tune up it's never had (shims and all) and I'm hoping that will keep it happy for another 10years or so.

I take back my recommendation for BikeBandit.com.
They only sent one of the two gears in the set, and now are hassling me about needing my bike's VIN, and that their system doesn't accept it, before sending the other gear. The VIN I gave them has been confirmed three times, my me and my dealer/repair shop. It's a Canadian bike and I suspect the VIN for USA bikes are different and is causing this unnecessary delay. What's really dumb, is they didn't need my VIN before sending the original order. Sigh...
        Last time for them.

Yeah, once an online outfit has your money they make you squeal like a pig. Count the number of teeth on the old gear and ask them if they can just send you one with the same number. I think there wre two drive ratios for your bike.

            And finally..

After several emails with bikebandit and suzuki Canada, it was determined the SET of gears had been broken into two seperate gears. Their price up here is 400.00 bucks each gear!!! Anyhow, bikebandit to their credit, reordered the part and got the same single gear again, so they then offered me a refund if I sent the gear back, as they can't get the driven gear yet. They will be updating their catalog to reflect this change in part #s.

Armed with the new part # I went to my dealer and will have to pay the 400.00cdn for the second gear. Needless to say I'll keep the gear from bikebandit as it was only 200.00us.

Pheww, 3 weeks without my baby, but it will be good as new when this is done.
