I'm stripping my gsx 750 katana engine and the barrels are stuck fast to the crank case. I've tried tapping firmly around the seal but it wont break.

Did it yesterday on a GS1000 engine, took literally five minutes with a nylon hammer to get it loose, didn't feel like it was going to budge at first but did in the end. Whatever you DON'T PRY!

Ok I was just being a little too careful. Once I gave it a few proper wacks it came off a treat.
Thanks.

Good to hear, had the same problem with my GS1150 engine this week, I was hammering away with my $3 nylon/rubber hammer for a while u8ntill I aparently wore through the rubber with the edges of the cooling fins, exposing the iron nut under it and broke a fin!
Hopefully the guy boring and honing it can weld the piece back on.
