    Stock Air Box Problems

I want to use my stock air-box for my GS750L (1981) but the collars, which connect to the carbs, have become stiff and I can't get them to go on the carbs. And man this is a tight enough fit as it is. Is there any secrets/tips to getting the air-box connected back to the carbs (for installation)? And is there any trick to "softening" the air-box collars so that they fit on the carbs?

Much Thanks from the Mountains: dtkid

Best thing you can do is order new ones. Part # 13881-49021. They cost ~ $10.00 each. Not only wil the air box install be easier, but they will eliminate any air leaks between the airbox & the carbs.

Thanks a bunch ya'll. I soaked the collars in "thinner" and let them bake in the hot sun for two days. They softened up and went right on!

              I love this forum.
