    hot oil level

    Hi all,
How soon after a ride should it take for the oil to appear in the site glass, Takes around 20-30 minutes for it to appear....is this normal or do I have a blockage in the return, (no oil pressure light is comming on)

Should take a few seconds. I can turn my bike off and by the time I get it close to level, the level is there.

Is your oil level at the upper mark?
So if you tun off the motor, put it on the centre stand it takes 20 to 30 mins for a level to show, is that what your saying?

Yeh paul thats right, oil is usually on the full mark, I had a 45-50 Klm ride and checked the level, no oil so i had a gossip and checked again still no show, had a coffee, then checked again and it was there

Something not right then, there's plenty of places for the oil to drain down from the head, but it has to come up again from the sump through the sump filter.
My bet is it's nearly blocked, hardly anybody cleans them.
So you will have to drop the oil pan , not hard just lots of bolt's.
I bet you will find some crap on the gauze filter!
If this is the case ,you are now running the risk of blowing your motor.
I could be wrong ,but it seem's to be the only thing that could do this.
All oil has to come back up through there.
            See how you go!
Nice to hear from another guy from OZ .

Oooh!! I didn't know there was another filter in there!!
                  YAY More stuff to clean!!
Will I need a new gasket if I drop the Oil Pan to clean the sump filter?

doesn't hurt to renew all gaskets when you pull something down, things tend to last longer
