    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have been to bike shops, friends, the web, and now the forum. I'm running out of ideas. I need a rebuild kit for these carbs and no one can tell me what they are. Any help would be appreciated. They were on a 1981 GS1100.

i wish the site hosting your pictures were up so i could have a look...
meanwhile, here are some questions:
- are they keihin or mikuni?
if mikuni, it's likely to be either the stock carbs (guess not)
could be the slingshot flatslide
could be rs flatslide *(has dual throttle cables)
can't think of anybody foolish enough to use anything else from mikuni.
as far as keihin carbs go, im not familiar with them. ill check in later to see if the pics work

I see those pics fine, but can't make a possitive ID on the carbs. Can we see a pic of the top cap, or are they still on the bike attahced to the throttle cables?

They are off the bike as well. I will get a picture and post it tonight.
 
yeah i can see the pictures now. the hosting site was down at the time of my first post though.

well, those certainly do not look like slingshots. they are not the rs either since they dont have flatslides.

you're only showing us the carb bodies and without any components with them. not even te throttle linkage. i understand stuff better when i see it in context, can you post pics of the whole assy and oter stuff, liek float bowls (side view) and diaphragms (if any are present, which i doubt) as well as a shot of how the carbs bolt to eachother.

if i had to take a guess here, i'd say they looked like mikuni vm, but i've never actually had a set of those and only seen them a couple of times.

im wondering, do they have an accelerator pump? weird linkage from throttle to float bowl. if they do i'd say they are mikuni vm 34 ss (very good carbs)

humhead is right those are smoothbore vm33 carbs, they were mainly used as race carbs back in the day. they are a bit rare carb and parts for them are vary limited, there are diffently not any rebuild kits, you need to try peiceing thing back the best you can, and try to reuses as much stuff as possable,, give sudco a call they may have some parts

You guys are great! Man, I could have saved myself a lot of time and effort by posting my question here first.

Thanks for the expertise. This is my first ever "motorcycle project" and it was going so well until I got to these mystery (no longer) carbs. I live in my manual and the aftermarket thing really through me off. :evil:

if you can't find parts for the carbs, try to get some slingshots off a recent katana 750 or early 90's gsxr, they work just as well after you get them jetted and are cv carbs.
also the rs series carbs kick on that bike (mechanical pumper carbs)
stock carbs for the 1150 will also work wonders, and are plentiful.
