    serviceable/non serviceable ignitors

Fairly positive that I've blown the ignitor on my 82 GS450L. I've seen mentions of ignitors with serviceable cases, and others being sealed. I'm fairly certain that I have a non serviceable case. Assuming I do, is there any reason that I couldn't just cut the case open, repair the bad parts, and silicone the hell out of it to use it until I can find a proper replacement unit? I know this isn't an ideal situation, but I _really_ need to get this bike running like yesterday, as I don't have enough cash on hand to feed my truck gas for the next few days, and I have jobs that I have to get to.

Put it this way you have nothing to loose by trying to fix it.
transistor 23sd977-2sd1120=2sd1162=2sd1353 are some of the possible replacements

I'm assuming that the transistors will be marked on the case as to what they are? Where are you getting replacements? Something I can have my local electronics house get?

Got the case of the ignitor opened up, and was quite dissapointed. The epoxy stuff is molded all around the board (like a candle wick has wax all around it). Unless there is some magical goo that will remove the epoxy without destroying the electrical stuff in the process, a non serviceable ignitor is just that, _non_serviceable
