Seat trim retainers - GS1000
I removed the plastic seat trim from my seat to re-paint it. in the process, I mangled most of the flat "nuts' which hold it on the seat pan. They are not threaded, but more like a flat spring which grips the individual mounting studs. What else could I use to reattach the trim? I picked up some speed nuts at the hardware store, but they don't seem to work.Tags: None

Short sheet metal screws or short drywall screws.
In the skirt are a couple of areas that can be drilled out.
I lost mine years ago and use the short sheet metal screws.
No problemsKeith

Thanks. After stewing about it for a few days (my wife thinks I have OCD), I ended up running a 6mm die over the studs so I could use a conventional nut. Overcomplicated, but it worked very well.
