    Funny noise? Maybe?

    Recently acquired
    1985 GS550EF (minus the F).

Bike seems to run fine, still needs the carbs adjusted, but otherwise has been mechanically sound.

    Stock airbox.
Has an oil cooler (not sure if that was stock, but I'm assuming not).

Now the noise occurs between 4500rpm and 7000rpm, in every gear. Below and above that the bike sounds 'normal'.

But between those RPM I get a very high pitched buzzing sound coming from somewhere near or in the engine. Anybody have any thoughts?

Also --- is there anything special I need to know about changing the oil on a bike with an oil cooler?

    Thanks,

    Satch

    resonance vibration noise, dont worry.
they came with a oil cooler standard as this is the bridge years between the air cooled GS and the oil/air cooled GSXR 83-85/86ish are the only GS that came standard with a oil cooler.

you changed the oil just like you would for one without the cooler.

A carb clean and sync may do wonders for quieting down that vibration as well Alex.

you have to stop thinking of responses to the R thread while riding your bike.
Tighten stuff and see id that helps but ill always go along with the carb sync
