Oil in stator housing?

With my 1100 on the center stand I removed the stator cover suspecting the source of my charging problem. Found oil in and on the inside of the cover as well as all over the stator. When I put the bike on the side stand with the stator still attached to the cover and hanging by the stators electrical harness more oil poured out. Cranckshaft seal?? and if so can it be changed without a teardown??

Nothing at all to worry about. This is normal.

When the engine is running the stator is bathed in engine oil to help keep it cool.

You should really drain the oil before removing the cover, and even then you will get several dribbles of oil, so its a good idea to have a rags or something else handy to absorb it.

I agree with him. It's no biggie as my 7 and a half is the same way.

That oil buiness rattled me once till i finally read the distruction manual

When I remove my stator cover...I use the center stand and put about a .75" block under the stator side leg of center stand which gives the bike just enough tilt not to leak but a few drops.

Something to note too, is that if the stator doesnt get enough oil in there to keep it cool, it will fry and get real crispy like what happened on my GR650 Tempter.
