need some advice guys, my front forks are very soft they bottem out all the time. i tried to check the psi in them without any luck, i also tried to add air without any luck. 83 gs1100e with anti dive. tried to check the manual and it says use a hand pump and some kind of contraption that you purchase from a suzuki dealer. whats up? when the front wheel comes up it lands real hard help me out!!!!!

I bought my GS750ES off my uncle who had decomissioned the anti-dive system. To add pressure we use a hand pump into the valve on the top of the left fork. I belive it's suppose to be 2.5 - 3.5 psi? You need to use a Low Pressure gauge. Not one of those that go up to the hundreds that you'd use on car tires. I don't have my manual with me, so maybe someone could confirm the pressure value.
If your forks arn't holding pressure then you may have to replace the seals, or take a look at the anti-dive system to see if theres a leak. I've never delt with the system, so I dunno how you'd do this.
Also.. when filling up your bike should be on the center stand with all the weight taken off the front wheel. -

number 25 on the schematic. The manual I got copied from the dealer, it said to put 5-15psi in the forks depending on the amount of preload desired. I run around 10 psi which settles about an inch when my wife and I are on the bike. It doesn't dive and doesn't bottom while driving over bumps. A fist full of brake with the front tire howling will still not bottom out. I have upped the viscosity of the fork oil to 20W as well.Comment

Progessive brand fork springs, at $75 the pair, were worth every penny and more. HUGE difference in ride, both firmer and plusher at the same time, and no more bottoming out!Comment
