shindengen sh522-12 3.8 hook up???
Anyone know if the two yellow wires go to my stator, the green to ground and the red to the battery? I have an 86' GS550L and ordered another r/r but the guy I bought it from over a month ago says he lives in Mississippi and it will be awhile before I get it so I found this Shindengen sh522-12 3.8 real cheap and need my bike like ASAP! Thanks in advance! JakeTags: None

Well I hooked it up going by what other people have done and at idle I get around 12.41 volts and at around 5,000 rpm's I get about 13 volts. Is this too low? Thanks! Jake

THere are three yellows from the stator, not two. I think you forgot one. Hook the red wire to the battery and the brown to the orange and white wire that feeds power to the brake light switch, it should have 12 volts when the key is switched on, 0 volts when the key is off1981 GS650G , all the bike you need

Hi, This R/R only has two yellow wires, a red and a green. I hooked the two yellow to my stator wires, the red to red and the green to ground. It doesnt have a brown wire as other ones do. Is 13 or 13.5 volts too low at 5,000 rpm's? I'm going to look for a bigger one but my wife has her leg in a cast, the babysitter is on vacation so she needs the car to take the kids to school so I need to ride my bike whether it rains or whatever so I put this R/R on for now just hoping it doesnt let me sit! I've seen so many Shindengen R/R's used on this forum and thought I would give it a try but I think I need a bigger, heavier one! Thanks! Jake

Actually I'm not sure what it is off of but after riding it to my mothers which is a little over an hour away, letting it sit for about 5 hours and then heading home, the battery was fully charged when I got it home. I even used my high beams sometimes coming home so this R/R will work if needed. I even drove it to work for two weeks before this and still no problems. Jake
