    engine rebuild question

I'm trying to determine if parts from an engine I'm tearing down can be used in my current bike. I'm confused with the measurement specs in the manual. They give you a range and a service limit, and I'm not sure about measurements that fall in between. For instance, some of the piston diameters I've measured fall just slightly below the range ( by .0001 or .0002), but this is well above the service limit. Are these useable, or must I get new oversized?

    Thanks,
    Ace.

Pistons are tapered (they expand more at the top than at the bottom) so it's important you take your measurements correctly, i.e: at the base, perpendicular to the gudgeon pin.

Actually, they recommend taking measurements at the base of the skirt and 15mm up and using the smallest of those readings.

They also quote measurements in metric, not in inches. You'll find this applies to all japanese motorcycles.
