bike overheated, oil shooting out of cylinder head

so i was riding with a passenger trying to keep up with my friend on a bandit, basically the bike started to overheat, as i started to slow down, i heard a loud popping noise, and when i pulled hte bike over, on of the plastic "things" that are located under the cylinder head cover cap ("part number 475998-001 @ bikebandit.com") came flying out and oil started shooting out of this newly created hole in the cylinder head. I am wondering if this is just a piece or do i need buy a whole new head gasket.

    thanks for your help

You may have lucked out and the gasket will be fine, but I reckon it'd be best to order a new one now. If you don't need it you'll have a spare for when you do need one.

If your talking about the 4 plastic 'end caps' then yes, replace both them and the cover gasket.

It would also be an extremely good idea to get a Real Gasket for the valve cover while you're at it, if one is available for your bike:
Real Gaskets Tennessee is a manufacturer of silicone rubber valve cover gaskets for aircraft engines, automobile engines, and motorcycle engines.

Cheaper than stock, won't leak, and can be washed and reused for a lifetime. What more could you want?

And adjust the valves, since you're in there.
