Rubber head fin 'wedges' any cheap replacements?

Or just not bother? I'm pretty sure these are just to quiet the engine down and keep the fins from resonating or vibrating excessively.. they're $1.37 each, and I think I'll need around 16 of them...or so (haven't counted, some were already missing of course)...

Or, hrm... How about buildup a blob of high-temp RTV between each...perhaps that'll work just as well...

A few of mine have popped out too. A couple are in the spark plug pockets. I'm wondering the same thing.

noise abatement is all they are for, you don't have to have them but if you are going for a 100% concourse restoration you will need them.

you can get a cheep rubber truck mudflap and using a sharp box cutter cut out little squares to use for a fraction of the price.

most of mine are gone and I don't miss them.

Sounds to me like this will not be much of a problem.. as I've got the head off sitting on my bench, all cleaned up.. I may just use some high-temp RTV and make my own 'in place'.. if it works, fine.. if not... oh well ;-)
